The Military already allows Soldiers to use their Government Travel Card during PCS, but should they allow us to use DTS instead of filling out an actual travel voucher?  I know they already have the option on DTS and I believe it would make a PCS so much easier.  Do any of the branches of service already do this?

Being in a PCS status right now, not sure how I feel about it due to I am currently awaiting payment of a TDY trip in the outgoing unit that has been delayed for an extended period of time. If I was going to utilize DTS, I think I would take the advance to ensure payment of credit card usage.

I do see how it would be easier to have a centralized system for all travel, but I don't know that DTS would be the right solution.  I often see or hear about problems with DTS.  I think if DTS does start covering PCS, then perhaps more Soldiers will know how to use it better.  The biggest issues I could see with DTS though would probably come from the accounting code information.  I do like the old way of doing things though, simply because we can have that face-to-face interaction and get questions answered on the spot.  Having everything automated takes away that aspect of it.

They would have a generalized Line Of Accounting that belongs to HRC or DFAS for use of PCSing.  That is what they do anyway, in some form, when the paper voucher goes up (somewhere along the line).
