My wife and I are looking at buying our first home when we pcs to ft stewart this fall, anyone have suggestions on what areas to look at and what areas to stay away from? Realtors to avoid or good realtors? Thanks for any input!

Ludiwici will give you more bang for buck-20 min drive... richmond hill will give you better school districts but is more expensive. Closer to savannah 30 min drive... hinesville is the closest but it is the trailer park capital of america. Cheaper to live but poor quality schools and more crime

I believe MSG (Join to see) nailed it on this. I know a lot of people that lived in Ludiwici and Richmond Hill. There isn't much to Hinesville and you will find yourself driving to Savannah a lot. Oh, Jessup has the best Walmart by the way. We would drive their because it seemed the cleanest and people where friendlier their. My wife didn't like any of the other ones.

Ludowici is the way to go, especially if you like small quiet town. The land there is cheaper and so is the property tax. I live in Midway, another small town near Hinesville and Richmond Hill, but I am getting a home built in Ludowici. They have lots of lands and/or houses whichever route you choose.

I live in Richmond Hill, my wife and I love it there. We went with this USAA program where they referred us to a realtor and then paid us for using that realtor. If you want to buy, talk to USAA first - you don't have to use them to get a loan to use the program.

If you can afford to do it, keep the house when you PCS and rent it.
The Real-Estate company that I used when I was there is still around (http://holtzmanrealestate.com/) and they are able to help you find a house to buy and then manage the rental when you are away. They were reasonable to deal with at the time I was there.

You may want to shop around for managment companies though. Holtzman has a bad reputation for sxrewing the renter and sometimes even telling owners something was fixed but it was either skipped or a band-aid used as a temp fix.
