There is a difference between a totalitarian state and a police one BUT, it still isn't pretty nor is it necessary to live this way even for a short time. And BTW, DeBlasio and his wife were out walking in a park that was closed to the average New Yorker...so the "rules" only apply to the masses, not the privileged.

In my view Lt Col Charlie Brown It is time to put a HALT to the tactics being imposed on the citizenry by the very people WE voted in to REPRESENT US and manage the affairs of a county, town, city, state and yes even parts of the Federal hierarchy... We now have these "leaders" (note I did not capitalize the first L in leaders) who have a taste of totalitarian power by overstepping their bounds in setting law, regulations, and the like on the public... You are so right when you stated that it is a dress rehearsal for a Police State... All one has to do is look at what happened in Germany in WWI and again in WWII... and yes, I believe it could happen here if we let it... Such a sad set of circumstances... Great Post, Charlie...

But Germany and most of Europe are going through the same type of restrictions as we are and, they above all, should recognize a blooming police state.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - how about Sweden where they trust people to act like adults?
And the Germans are all too willing to go along with police state restrictions; I saw that time and again in my six years there.

Lt Col Charlie Brown Europeans in general are more willing to go along with any kind of restrictions. That's the big difference between them and us, but frankly we seem to be taking the ugly American track on how we've responded to the concept of doing what's good for the majority.
