Mabus. He named a ship after a woman who did nothing more than get shot. Nothing heroic. Not even a social 'warrior', not a civil rights giant, nothing. Just a woman who got shot from behind by some asshole. The same guy that just trashed 300 years of Naval tradition with the stroke of a pen. The same guy who wanted to remove every instance of 'man' from the Navy. He has played free with naming ships since his tenure started. Most politicians, I laugh at, and I distrust all of them. But this guy, I actively dislike.

Having been in the US Army I don't understand the whole naming ships deal. But, that being said I do see that it is an honor - an honor that should be reserved only for the most honorable of individuals.

We named our tanks but only one we named it after somebody. Named tanks after gunnery and named the top tank after a brother that died overseas. Other then that they was named with something that had to do with death dealers
