Interview guidance. One area I see a lot of really talented vets struggle. Not sure how to turn on the civilian face when in front of hiring leaders.

Agree! I didn't even know how to research and respond to a company's culture, so I would know how to phrase responses, how to relax, and be friendly.

Culture is such a HUGE factor in the decision making process. That's an excellent point, Col Joseph Lenertz. It's also important to know and feel connected to a company's culture if you plan to be there long term.

I agree. I remember when I went through Airman Leadership School they had us practice giving counseling for when we would have to eventually counsel our subordinates. It would be nice if in the transitioning class they had you do some practice interviews.

No one expects military ranks to translate over to civilian, but learning how to tell at what level you might fit into a company is a job search skill. A "Director" at Lockheed Martin is not the same (scope of responsibilities, # of direct reports, budget, etc) as a "Director" of Events within the Athletic Department of the College of William & Mary. Both are Directors, very different levels.

Better development of resume writing program not just some 2 days course and a review and your ready to hit the job market.

I agree that the basics should be covered in the course, but follow-up sessions / check-in's should be offered - even if it's for small fees with independent contractors, not necessarily overbooked staff.
