The president faces an article of impeachment for inciting a riot in the U.S. Capitol, but the insurrection that unfolded last week was in step with extremist movements that have ties to county commissioners, legislators and other leaders in the state.
From county commissioners and state lawmakers to a member of the U.S. Congress, some Oregonians in power have enabled the extreme beliefs and conspiracy theories fueling political violence carried out in the name of President Donald Trump.
The upheaval continued in Oregon last weekend, when a man was arrested in Portland on suspicion of firing shots at a federal courthouse. Weeks earlier, Cody Levi Melby had been in police custody and released in Salem, where officers said they found him carrying a gun and trying to break into the state Capitol building. Like many Trump loyalists, Melby echoed baseless claims about the “theft of votes,” making it clear he did not accept the results of the 2020 presidential election, according to court documents.

Keep going back in the state history and the FBI, photos of my sister might be there from the 60's. She was and still is one of the Hippies who protested.

CPO John Bjorge I Love the "Dynamic" History of Oregon. Quite Colorful. From "Shanghai" Portland to the Redneck Mafia. History is My Passion and My Own Personal History is a Bit "Colorful". My Other "Home" My Grandchildren's Home. They Know Grandpa can say some strange things. Think the Funniest Conversation I ever heard is Hearing My Daughter basically say to My Middle Granddaughter "Grandpa Only Kills Very Very Bad People". She started to Understand something was Odd about Her Papa when I Taught Her how to Dislocate Someone's Knee.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel I loved it when I told them I only learned to kill 7 ways. Most of the time when a new boyfriend was meeting me for the first time. I only talked about using my hands.

CPO John Bjorge - "Cotton" My Son in Law is Quite a Guy, Great Guy, Significant in the Community, Active in Community Theater. Now there is Quite a Joke between Us. I Always Tell Him to be Honest with Anyone that wants to Court My Oldest Granddaughters. Explain "Truths" to Them. He was Weapons Dept USS Carl Vinson, I was "Senior Spook on the Pier" for the Pacific Northwest Fleet. We're Both Great Guys but If You Cross Us?

if he fired shots at the federal courthouse, then absolutely jail him, but yes, the I-5 corridor has been a breeding ground for extremists, mostly left leaning extremists, who have taken mob rule to the limit.

A1C Doug Towsley - I am not limiting my comment simply to Oregon, Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle are known for left leaning activists. - it's only a 2-3 hour drive up I-5 from Portland to Seattle. , and you go through Olympia, and tacoma to get to Seattle.

A1C Doug Towsley - I think it is because most of leftist anarchists live in the cities, No one really cares about what Bill or George is doing outside the cities, until they do something stupid, like shoot at a federal courthouse. Then they become propaganda pieces for the media.

A1C Doug Towsley - my wife and I have had to set some rules when we have family for the Holidays, politics are forbidden. There is only so many times I will tolerate a cooked turkey flying. And I have discovered that it is once.
