San Luis Obispo, or SLO, is a city in on the central coast of California approximately midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. San Luis Obispo is home to Camp San Luis Obispo - the first California National Guard camp - and is approximately an hour south of Camp Roberts and Fort Hunter Liggett.

The city is most well known for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo - a California State University hosting about 21,000 students and a renowned engineering school - Mission San Luis Obispo, and several volcanic plugs that form part of the 9 sisters peaks.
