Winterville, NC

The Town of Winterville is a full service municipality located immediately south of Greenville in the central coastal plain region. The current population of 9,399 is growing at a rate of approximately 150 new residents per year.

The Town of Winterville sponsors a variety of programs and activities which contribute the relaxed, family- oriented lifestyle for which the community is becoming increasingly well known.

There are plenty of parks and trails for family outings.

There are wonderful restaurants in both Winterville and neighboring Greenville.

ECU Sports, Air U, and assorted events.

I haven't personally noticed places or things to avoid... other than traffic maybe and good luck with that.

This all depends on how fast you are moving.

If you have time to scout and explore the area, then looking for a home is not a bad deal if you know you will be here for at least 3-5 years.

If it is short notice, then I would aim for a 6 month - 1 year apartment or extended stay Air BnB if you can find one. That way you can learn the area, places you prefer, and travel routes vs traffic.
