We are all riflemen first right? Instead of inventing a new badge, why don't we reenforce the fact that every Soldier is a riflemen? This could also lead to the bolstering of combat readiness and capabilities of support units.

Note: only 11 series and 18 series could earn and wear the CIB.

The Army isn't the Marine Corps--all Soldiers are NOT all riflemen.

Alrighty, anyways.

Seeing as you were a DS and a Recruiter, if you did not tell your Soldiers that no matter what MOS they were going into they were SOLDIERS first or riflemen first, then you robbed them and I feel bad for them. My DSs made it a point to emphasize we were Soldiers and riflemen first, they provided us with outstanding training and a solid baseline to fall back on when SHTF.

Personal attack; rather than address the point. Never a good sign. Time to tap out.

I don't typically admit this but I agree with Cadet 2LT Will Shaw.

That wasn't the point of the EIB. When the CIB and EIB were conceived, they were designed so acknowledge those that chose to be Infantrymen. There was even a pay stipend to go with it. Every Soldier is a Rifleman, but not every Soldier chose to be Infantrymen. That was the point. I almost think that coming out with a badge for every other Soldier now, so many years later, is the equivalent of a Participation Medal.

If Soldiers that are not Infantry want to distinguish themselves in such a manner as obtaining a badge (a point that I never discounted), then there should be a badge for it. To combine it by letting everyone go out for the EIB takes away from the creation of the EIB in the first place. I never said other Soldiers' accomplishments were nothing in comparison because they weren't Infantry. Nor do I think that. At the time of the creation of the award, people weren't so much choosing the MOS for whatever reasons and the Army felt like it had to do something to counter that.

besides, at the time of its creation the infantry suffered horrible morale and now have something to distinguish themselves with. Because let's be honest; No one wants to get yelled at, smoked for 'attention to detail" get shitted on all day, and get paid the same as everyone else. But there is a reason for all that. If someone wants a badge, they should reclass to get it or go to Airborne, Air Assault, Pathfinder, Free Fall/HAHO/HALO school, or Ranger Leaders Course if they want a badge or tab to wear.

EAB... I think every MOS have their own challenges, have then create a expertise badge that conform their own critical skills list and design a test that shows the culmination of obtaining exceptional skill qualification , then allow then to get their expert MOS badge. We in the army have our own expertise badges, EOD, Crew Chief, Medics, Aviators, Recruiters, Riggers etc, etc, etc...The Navy and the Airforce does also. Critical skills (ASI) and additional training is shown in your MOS 11B40X, why not to others. The question is... Does this will help for recruitment, proficiency, morale, and readiness? if the answer is yes to all of these, then by all means stop talking and put it into action. Our troops deserved it. I post this in the wrong place before.... sorry.
