The military had better get their act together and get with the program or lack of readiness will make them useless.

Having retired from the military and then currently serving as a civilian, I can say unequivocally that the military is borrowing from peter to pay Paul. The reason is that our budgets even with Trumps push have been destroyed over the years and we are literally doing more with less people, less funding, and old equipment...you can only duct tape something for so long and even the Duct tape wears off. I am afraid though that it is only going to get worse. A newly elected senator the other day stated that they would be able to fund other programs when they defund the pentagon.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth Yes Sir. I was reading about a Marine fighter squadron a while back in Obamas administration. The had 1 fighter jet that was operational and the other 19 jets they used for parts. It's become a sad state of affairs.

When I got out in 1977 we had been cannibalizing parts for quite some time, which meant defective parts were being replaced with used parts with unknown service time left on them.

PO2 (Join to see) - Back in the mid 90's we were cannibalizing parts from B-52s at the boneyard...we did the same for C-130H models in themed 2000's...sad state of affairs.

LtCol Charlie Brown Now it is aircraft that cannot fly. Lack of pilots was the problem most publicized before. This is making sense to me now, lacking pilots to fly them, airplanes are not maintained to fly!!

can confirm -- the hours put on some of these airframes is exorbitant... the fleet during peacetime is expensive -- 2 decades of continuos combat increases that exponentially
