I heard someone the other day saying having a poor credit score can hurt your ranking in the military. Is that true?

I believe uttering a bad check is punishable under Art 134. More importantly, a pattern of mishandling your personal finances brings into question whether you are capable of handling the services business. "Back in the day" an officer could expect to at least see the CO if he passed a bad check and probably have it noted on his fitness report it was a pattern. Could also effect your eligibility to qualify for, or maintain, a security clearance as financial problems could make you subject to bribery or threats that would make you a security risk.

Your financial stability can red flag you for a security clearance or PRP, that can affect your career if those are required
