In it's SHORTSIGHTEDNESS, the US Army is once again talking about getting rid of Long Range Surveillance Units. They did it after Vietnam and have tried to do it for the past 20 years. The Army CAN NOT depend on Drones, Satellites, or Cavalry Scouts (who live by the motto: Death Before Dismount) in Bradleys and Strykers, to do what highly trained Paratroopers can do with boots on the ground. Why does the Army try to Fix stuff that is just NOT BROKEN.

Blows my mind I gratuated LRSLC in 1999. One of the best schools. Trust me I loved RANGER, SNIPER, AIRBORNE, and many others not anyway. When they changed the standards in 2004 I was really , really, aggravated. They needed to because they opened it up to any combat arms soldier. With the Stryker companies they wanted all these guys in there. I was an RI up in Dahlonega in 05 talked to a buddy there in Benning said it was a joke. Sorry to say this but they really don't have anyone in right now who can do the job secondly those who can guys like me that would be near 20 yr. and broke. I'm out right now. Any way it all angers me. It's not over yet. 10 years ago I was telling people Someone like Trump could help us. Growing up I watched what he did in big world real business. He Can Do It

I know this is nitpicking, but as a former force management guy, the term for closing out a unit is inactivate. Bombs are deactivated.
