USAR Drill Sergeant, what’s the deal here. I’m switching from Active to guard and don’t want to change MOS. Is it one weekend a month and 2 weeks out of the summer. I need a day by day. Any info I would appreciate it.

I was with the 104th in Washington which was a Training Division (11B ). I ended up going through DS training, which is the same as Active Duty DS school, except you do it over weekends. If I remember, the qualification took about a year. At the end there is a 2 or 3 week finish to the Qual course. Once qualified you will do your 2 weeks training Privates in Basic (I was at FT. Jackson twice). There, usually you are under an Active Duty PS. The rest of the year you bone up on DS skills, MOS skills. We did some FTXs and such. This was back in the 80s for me, but I doubt things have changed much.
