I have been in the IRR for about a year and a half after spending 6 years in active/ reserve duty. Recently, a soldier I used to mentor died and is being buried with full military honors. Should I/ can I wear my dress uniform to his funeral or is that in poor taste?

AR 670-1.

Yes. That is what the uniform is for, for ceremonies and such. Funerals, weddings, graduations, promotions and the like.

Individual Ready Reserve is still Reserve, you are able to and I would recommend it if you served with him.

Yes AR 670-1 allows for the wear of your uniform to military related events. Be sure to wear it correctly.
