Last Night, Donald Trump Disqualified Himself

An Open Letter to Donald Trump From a U.S Military Soldier:
Dear Mr. Trump:
I thought long and hard before I wrote this. I thought, You know, you might get in trouble for this. And then I thought, But he's NOT President Yet. I thought, This might upset some people. And then I thought...I don't care. This is wrong. This is Horrible! Do Veterans and AD And Reserves and NG KNOW what you just said? Are they even aware of it? Does the general Public Know what it MEANS to be a Soldier, to swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States against All Enemies, foreign and Domestic? Maybe they just don't understand. Maybe they don't Know why what you said was so horrible, so out there...so Wrong! And maybe, someone needs to tell them. So here I am, Mr. Trump.

In the latest Presidential debate you were asked and I'm quoting from the Huffington Post, and the posted video, "what he would do if the U.S. military failed to carry out his unlawful orders. Instead of saying he wouldn't issue unlawful orders, that he would support and defend the U.S. Constitution, which as president would be his sworn duty to uphold, Trump boasted that the military would follow his orders no matter what."

Actually, Mr. Trump...No I Will Not. I will NOT carry out your unlawful orders no matter what. I will not carry out Any Unlawful orders, of any kind, from Any sitting President or Commanding Officer. Because That is Not the Oath I took when I joined and rejoined, 3 times. I swore to, "Uphold the Constitution of the United States, Against all Enemies, Foreign and Domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same". It is followed by, After the Fact, "and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me..." Because, That comes Second, Mr. Trump. I am first ordered to uphold the Constitution, and then my President and the Officers over me. First, I must uphold the Law. I must uphold the Constitution.

You would know this if you had served in the Armed Forces and not dodged the Draft. What you have just said is the action of a Dictator, Not a Leader, and not the action of a man who claims he will also swear to uphold the Constitution on the day he becomes President.

What I will do, Mr. Trump, is Refuse to go against the Oath that I took as a Soldier of the United States. I will refuse your unlawful orders. Honestly, I believe in my fellow soldiers and I believe they will do the same. I unequivocally state, that if given unlawful orders by a standing President, I will not only refuse, I will refuse with Prejudice. In a few months I will no longer be Active Duty but a Reservist. And I know the consequences. You can attempt to arrest me, jail me, sue me...whatever it is you think you will do as a President...and I will not back down. I will not relent. I will not give up my honor. I will not break my Oath. I will Not, under any circumstances, lower myself to accept orders from a man who has told me to do something illegal for his own ends and to feed his own ego at the expense of the Law.

And I firmly believe that my fellow soldiers will do the same. They will Not break their Oath. I have lived beside them, fought beside them and shed tears with them. I have held their hands when they died, and dried their tears when our buddies died for this Country. And I believe, beyond any doubt, they feel the same as I do.

I hope you read this, Mr. Trump. I truly do. I hope it goes viral. I hope many of my fellow soldiers pick up the banner and protest what you have said. I hope they make it clear to you that, just because you may become President, You are Not Above the Law. And your position is only as strong as the Armed forces you Lead, who upholds your Presidency. I think it's a lesson you would do well to realize now, rather than later.
