I'm glad you found inspiration from the man. Although many may not care for his policies and actions while in office his family life is separate and differentiates him as a politician and a father.

Well, I don't deploy as often since he assumed office, so I can say his lack of aggressive chickenhawk'ism has certainly affected my finances... Then again, I don't attend anywhere near as many memorial ceremonies...

You should ask that question in ten years. When Iran has a working nuclear missal. And that will affect us all.

If we accept that South Africa and all the former Soviet Republics have really gotten rid of all their Nuclear weapons... there are still 9 Nuclear States in the World, including Pakistan and North Korea. Adding one more to that list will make the world an even more dangerous place, however it's already a dangerous place. One more isn't going to make that much of a difference.

The fact that Iran has or will shortly have a deliverable nuclear weapon that can be fitted to a long range missile is not something you can lay at the feet of a single President. Iran has been developing nuclear weapons since at least the late 190ss (partially as a result of Iraq's own efforts - anyone remember the Israeli raid on the reactor?)

Iran's nuclear strategy is partially based on the N Korean strategy, a few warheads, that may or may not be deliverable introduces a level of uncertainty in dealing with a country.

Iran may have a few deliverable weapons in the next 10 years - they aren't likely to use them, if they do it's game over. While they 'might' be able to destroy Israel (which is debatable) the retaliation would certainly wipe out Iran. Same for Korea.

If the US had seriously wanted to stop the Iranian nuclear program we had a prime opportunity and failed to act decisively - the recent agreements with Iran are long over due - the cost of sanctions and lack of engagement with a country with that much influence in a key part of the world wasn't worth a few nuclear weapons.
