How many of us were unaware of the Port Chicago 50? I was, until I recently read about it in a book of a different topic. It's an incredible story, jaw-dropping in its sadness and audacity. Despite the awful way these Sailors were treated, the Port Chicago 50 played a huge role in desegregation in the military. It's worth learning about.
