Great history share, they depict the horrors and downside of war. And also show the humanitarian side of it.

I find old photos like these fascinating.
Lady in pic #12 would have been
• A small child when the Crimean War began and ended.
• A teen during the American Civil War.
• A twenty-something when the Statue of Liberty was gifted to the US and during the Franco-Prussian War
~ A great number of the children there who survived the Spanish flu would have lived in a country overrun two decades later by more Germans.
~ Also there is a better than 99.99% chance that even the youngest child photographed has long since passed.
