100 Years Ago: France in the Final Year of World War I

I find old photos like these fascinating.
Lady in pic #12 would have been
• A small child when the Crimean War began and ended.
• A teen during the American Civil War.
• A twenty-something when the Statue of Liberty was gifted to the US and during the Franco-Prussian War
~ A great number of the children there who survived the Spanish flu would have lived in a country overrun two decades later by more Germans.
~ Also there is a better than 99.99% chance that even the youngest child photographed has long since passed.

Were the Canadians in the American stepped up to fill the void of French divisions where their soldiers were mutinying and their officers refused orders.
