Lt Col Charlie Brown Good news for the semiconductor industry and the people of North Carolina. We need to bring manufacturing back to the levels it was in before all our factories left the country.

Silicon carbide is fantastic for EV batteries. The energy loss is a small fraction of silicon and is smaller/lighter than an equivalent amount needed from silicon. The only real drawback is the cost of production, but that tends to equal out at large scale batteries.

Silicon Carbide is not a new material. It has been used to make sandpaper since the 19th century. It is new to semiconductors, along with other metals like SiGe, a combination of Silicon and Germanium.
