I have to be honest, and maybe I just got lucky, but my PTSD diagnosis is from non-combatant things. Although what I was doing was directly related to combat, I was dealing with the fallen warriors before their trip home. The VA didn't give me any problems about it and got my rating rather quickly.

Thanks for your service to our fallen heroes. No other honor than working hard to get them back to their families. Thank you sir. I for one was going to serve as a mortuary affairs NCOIC for Operation New Dawn but was picked for a different duty for the deployment. The training for prepping a Brigade Support Battalion for combat duty was eye opening. The job is along those that are necessary but very hard to do like combat medics and cooks.

SGT Keith Bodine, this is a good article. What I like most about it is the way he shares his story. The stigma denys the biological condition that PTSD is. Mental health is just as real as physical sickness like cancer or the flu. First responders suffer from it, family members of deployed soldiers suffer from it too. PTSD applies to anyone or group of people that experience any type of trauma. We better get a handle on why so many active duty and veterans are killing themselves.

PTSD does't only effecting military .... police... fireman ... EMS ... even some personal life issue can raise above and become PTS. When one unable to control such stress and causing them to unable to perform day to day work, it become PTSD.

Don't blame the general population ... when people start talking about PTSD ... politician and social activist will usually draw too much attention to it and under informed public will start to behave in many weird way ... We are not a perfect society.
