Thanks for sharing PO1 William "Chip" Nagel what you are re-Learning some stuff I forgot from Greek Mythology "Chimera".
To be honest I am skeptical about "Biotechnology is making it easier and easier to create new forms of life, but what are the consequences when humans play with life?"
Biotechnology is making it easier to certainly modify some genetic structures particularly in vegetation certainly; but, it has not been able to actually create new life.

Those lovely half and half critters, Half Bird, Half Horse like Pegasus. Little did I know that there really was such a thing as a real Chimera truth is most definitely stranger than fiction, a real Chimera is when twins start in-untero but they join to become one person, Not Siamese Twins but One Person with 2 different DNAs. Say the Liver will have one DNA and the Heart will have another DNA.

Also Scientist are actually making Chimeras as in a Geep, Half Goat, Half Sheep. I can't even keep up with the stuff they are doing in Science these days.
