I am not necessarily opposed to government officials giving intentionally misleading or outright false statements to the media. I believe it is only justified in matters of national security, and speicifically in support of defensive or offensive military operations.

I believe that the Obama administration deliberately manipulated information that was released to the media, and to the families of the Benghazi victims. I also believe that manipulation was done for selfish reasons, political expediency and cover, related to the impending election. But I must be intellectually honest, those beliefs are based FAR MORE on my inherent distrust and dislike of both President Obama and Secretary Clinton, and FAR LESS than on fact.

I may be wrong. They may have honestly believed what they said or, there may have been some overriding national security reason to deliberately manipulate the media. But that is the price government must pay if it plays loose with the truth, for good or bad reasons. Innocent until proven guilty applies in court, not in public opinion.
