Considering our women's team is more respected nationally....this is something to look into. Make what you're worth I should say?

Not to be a ass but there is some economics to this that are based on demand. Likewise pay is all about supply and demand and has nothing to do with genitalia.

Agreed, and that's not being an ass, but if you say that, then the men's team should take a hit, not a raise. If I have 6 million coming from one and loosing money on the other, but the latter keeps making the same level of cash, then there is a problem. The women are capped at a certain number of expedition games they can be paid for. The men aren't? And THEY'RE the ones loosing money? Please tell me how that makes sense.

On the surface it looks like they may have a point but when you look at prize money awarded its clear the demand and market for man's soccer out paces women's. The total prize money offered by FIFA for the tournament was US$15 million for the women's world cup which represents just 2.6% of the total prize money for the 2014 Men's World Cup - $576 million. The dynamics on the men's side is completely different - think of Messi, Ronaldo and Beckham - these guys get paid hundreds of millions of dollars. While they may have performed better then the men and had an incredible turnout and made a profit - the demand is still not there. This can be seen in other sports at the collegiate level where the football team's success determines funding for all the other sports programs a college offers.

It isn't pay discrimination at all- it's simple economics.
I love the Women's team. Fantastic players and athletes. But the fact is that they don't pull the same revenue as the male teams do. This is true at the World Cup international level, league play, also in many sports too. NBA/WNBA another example.

Not true in this case. The mens team lost money yet the women's made 6 million? If you use economics as your reasoning, then the women are raking it in, yet not seeing their share.

Looking at the international brackets the mens team are the bigger earners. The world cup alone brought more than the womans team overall. Yes the womans world cup final match boosted high numbers but that was about it.
Also playing at the international level in the world of soccer isn't about the money and for them to seek to balance the gap there between the "US" teams is a bad start.
The real money matters in the league games. in this country that means MLS. Again women fall short in earning and revenue creation for the game. Nothing at all on the women. their athleticism and skill isn't the issue. just the way of the world.
