If we are not allowed to have our freedom of religion and to have our public schools teach us religion then of course no other religion should be allowed in public school. My problem is this is one of our rights that we are not allowed to practice because it OFFENDS someone.
If my beliefs offend you then I'm sorry. This is my 1st amendment right. I would not have an issue if other religions would like to have a course taught in public schools. This right is given to everyone, even though I do not agree that illegal immigrants should be protected since they are committing a crime by being here illegally.

Scpo Lockwood I'm so in agreement with you!!! I think that law is law and should not be broken and should be punished and I also feel what is good for the goose is good for the gander! If you allow one should allow and teach all!

Why should it matter? Unless you are planning on sending your kid to seminary they are there to gain secular knowledge. Build your faith at home and let it sustain you away from home. Offense needs to end somewhere. It's an imperfect system with imperfect people. Let it be.

I was taught basic religion (of all main religions, as they pertained to history). Not doctrine. This is VA public school mind you. Secular knowledge is in relation to things that do NOT have religious or spiritual basis. Not to mention bias.

SGT (Join to see) - If your going to teach kids a historical view of a religion it should probably be from someone who is not an adherent of that religion, so as to avoid any possible proselytizing.

Thankfully whether or not the mention of Jesus or the Bible is allowed by the authorities in Public Schools or elsewhere does not inhibit God from meeting His own where ever they are PO2 Jack Mitchell.
I hope that Islam and its prophet are taught in world history or a similar discipline and that students are not forced to participate in any faiths practices.

PO2 Jack Mitchell - the school boards and certainly the Federal government under the current administration are not interested in applying "what is good for the goose is good for the gander."
I was an agnostic schoolchild in the early 1960s when prayer was taken out of the formal school process. That didn't stop children from praying before tests or difficult assignments. I fought God for almost 31 years before I recognized my need for Him.

LTC Stephen F. - Yes I'm just worried if they are teaching and making children learn about the pillars of Islam isn't that church and why are they teaching it in school?
