Interesting article. I guess I lack imagination, since I can't imagine how this would be used for micro-machinery or medical drug delivery systems. The whole propulsive effect is based on surface tension, which wouldn't work at all in closed (filled cylinders or tubes) systems. And leaving open surface area on liquids delivering drugs might not be the best way to avoid infection or contamination of the fluid.

That sounds like these laser driven marbles are imitating ants SSgt (Join to see).
There is a great parable about Tammerlane when he was hiding from his enemies. He watched an ant attempt to push a piece of grain much larger than itself up a step over 90 times before it succeeded. That taught him the lesson of perseverance.
