I wonder how much of his speech is based on his losing his job as a sheriff's department captain...for refusing to give up his publicity efforts and for his "unprofessional" comments on Crime Stoppers PSAs. His sheriff told him to tone it down, to use less inflammatory rhetoric, and Higgins refused to do so.

It's funny how he went out and got a generic navy blue "police" uniform to replace the brown and green uniform he wore at the sheriff's office.

Capt Gregory Prickett - I am not saying that they don't have rights. You cite Eric Gardner, what kind of record did he have? He was breaking the law and when the police confronted him, I would bet you a doughnut to a Navy Bean that he mouthed off to the officers. I was never a cop in the civilian world, I applaud for you doing it. My experience is all Army, but I work in a gun store now. We have felons that walk in, knowing it is against the law for them to touch a gun, yet they never cease to try to get their girlfriends or younger friends to buy guns for them. We are really good at spotting them, and if I see a guy with an ankle bracelet on in there holding a gun (Firearm by Felon) we run them off and try to tell them not to come back. I never really felt this way until two officers that I know were killed by a thug who had a long list of minor crimes, who walked up behind them, while they were answering a domestic violence call. He killed these two MEN...this little thug punk left widows and orphans because e was...yadda yadda....And we had a city council member that wondered how "We as a Community failed" the murderer.
So I have no desire to see any more cops killed. And if that means that you round up career felon and turn them into cat food I am all good with that. I can have no pity for someone like the guy that killed those two Officers. His father failed him by not being there, his mother failed him by having him way too young, but society did not fail him. We provided his food, the roof over his head, the education he did not appreciate, and the clothes on his ass. Now, we will be providing everything for him for decades while they exhaust all appeals and lawyers try to justify or excuse what he did.

Sir, It was not that Eric Gardner was committing a felony, it is that Eric Gardner was breaking the law. He knew it, and he did not care. Most of these punk just plain do not care. And that is the problem.

SSG Roger Ayscue - The second year I was a cop, we buried five officers, and two more the next year. I know what it is like to lose officers. I had worked with three of them.

In Garner's case, the violation was a misdemeanor, called an infraction in many states. A ticket. Garner lost his life because of the equivalent of a traffic ticket, and because the officer didn't have enough sense to deescalate the situation. He also used a choke hold that had been banned by the police department precisely because it had killed people.

You need to be able to distinguish between what is worth taking a person's life over and what is not.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Sir I think that my problem here is that these individuals have a "I don't give a shit" attitude about the law. IN the Video about the gang members, how many of them had weapons charges? Each and every one of them, every weapons charge gives further ammunition to the gun control proponents that want to take my guns and my livelihood. So, if they can not obey a simple law, I have no faith that they will obey anything tat they don't want to.

OK, I understand that. I just don't believe those facts rise to the level of needing to take someone's life.
