When I was a cadet we used slide rules and phones were not a part of cadet life SFC (Join to see). I don't know what the current rules are for cadets but I expect checking a smart phone is not allowed or encouraged.

NO, Plain and simple, Cadet needs a foot planted up her ass for doing something that stupid. But in today's military that would be a bad thing to do. I guess down the line tweeting Ambushes/Piss tests etc will be the new thing.

Absolutely no way this is acceptable. You are in formation,...that by the very definition violates the premise of formation. They are supposed to be one unit...moving as one under the leadership of one. The fact that this cadet went out on her own and essentially broke formation, is wrong...this cadet is showed that she is not part of the unit and the rules didn't apply to her. She is an individual and this will beat her to every command she will ever have...she will always be known as the lone cadet that rules didn't apply to. Credibility is out the window from the start. She may be a great leader but to be a great leader you have to start as a great follower.
