The hard reality is the Army must cut the force. So who do we cut? Those with no derogatory stuff in their files or those with? Draw downs suck but someone has to go.

I think the Army could benefit from offering 15 year early retirements and opening up MOS's with a strength of 95% and higher to voluntary separation with advertised opportunities in the Guard and Reserve.

I think there is some reluctance because after the Gulf War too many left, basically it was an unmanaged drawdown.

Looks like legit criteria to me.

Wiih the exception of this one ~ "Going absent without leave for one- to 24-hour periods."


WTF does that mean? A Soldier can go AWOL for an HOUR?

We can do that at the ballot box. The problem is that while Congress has an approval rating is between 10-20% depending on the month, each Congressmen gets a 50+% approval rating in their own district. In other words, "my representative is great and yours sucks". So when people say get rid of the bums in Congress they mean your representative. BTW the re-election rate for Congress is over 90%, thus validating my point.
