For the Most Part Trump says what Racist like David Duke want to hear. "He Speaks His Mind" "He Tells the Truth" in other words he doesn't dress up his Racism with the Code Phrases and Dog Whistles that the Republicans used to use to not appear to Overt in their Racism. I guess those Code Phrases and Dog Whistles had become to complicated for some.

Democrats defended Senator Robert Byrd and downplayed his high-ranking KKK membership for literally decades. Now that a Republican's reputation can be smeared by a little innuendo (it doesn't even rise to the level of guilt-by-association), some liberals apparently can't resist the temptation.

Byrd left the Klan in the 1940s and apologized for it. "I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened." And he didn't have "high ranking membership."
Trump, on the other hand, has associated with Duke and others, and likes to pretend he has no idea what Duke believes and practices. You're comparing apples and oranges.

A. Byrd was a "kleagle", whatever that is. If it's not "high-ranking", my bad.
B. Democrats don't care what other Democrats do, as long as they apologize.
C. Obama spent 20 years in a twisted radical church, then claimed to not know what the pastor believed. Yet somehow, I don't think that bothers you. Trump hasn't had anywhere near that level of exposure to/association with Duke.
Normal people realize you can't control what other people say about you, whether it's a nutty uncle or previous business associate or whatever.
