It took me a few minutes to figure out what Master Chief Giordano's warfare qualifications stood for. IDW and SW I already knew, Information Dominance Warfare and Surface Warfare, but SG was a new one for me.

Basically it means he is qualified in Submarines but is not in a Submarine source rating and is not to be assigned to submarine duty.

I was curious because I noticed that the Master Chief is wearing enlisted Submarine "Dolphins" yet his warfare qualification wasn't listed as "SS" or "Qualified Submarines."

Congrats to the new MCPON. I wish the Army would follow suit with their selection of SMA. Why do you need to be a combat arms person to have that position along with the top officer. Loads of experience in the Army, and it's not all in combat arms.
