Fierce controversy over pastor's remarks about Orlando attack

There are others in our country that wish ill will on people, but they are protected by free speech.
Why is it OK this person to say this as a 'christian' and we spin out of control if a muslim were to say it. I understand recent history makes us suspicious, what to say someone listening won't take this to be a message from "God"
