Personally, I am for there being one uniform regardless of gender in the Navy. I have always liked the "masculine dress uniforms" and think this is a great change. The fact that my uniform clearly identifies me as a woman and not as a Sailor was something I felt has been very wrong for a long time. We are not making women invisible, we are making us one.

An United States Navy Sailor, that is all we need to be identified as.

SGT (Join to see) I just find it funny that all of a sudden there are issues with this now. The Navy was polled as a whole and the resounding response was women wanted the change because the male counterpart uniforms are actually cheaper.

I never understood why I had to pay almost $60 for my female cover but the men's dixie cup is $7. I would pay $7 to be able to rock the time honored cover of the Navy. When you see dixie cups you automatically think Sailor. When most see me in my uniform they think flight attendent and I have even been asked if I was in the ARMY!!!

You women hang in there, PO1 (Join to see). One of these days they will get it right. I would think being asked if you were in the Army, would be a compliment. Lol Just pulling your chain

I love the first line of this article: "Navy leadership is imposing masculine dress uniform changes on its servicewomen that no one wants."

So the servicewomen that no one wants get the new uniform, what uniform do the servicewomen that someone wants get?

Oh, I understand LTC (Join to see), It's like the Coyote date. When you wake up from a long drunk night and see who you picked up, and your arm is under her head, you'd rather gnaw off your arm before she wakes up.

When I was in, men and women received the same amounts for clothing maintenance allowance. Women's uniforms cost more per item than men's = desparity here. I have always been and still am proud to see women and men alike as "Sailors" and not 'situational treats' for predators. MST is on the rise and will continue for some years yet because there are still too many sexist persons running things. Full equality stopping at restrooms and berthing only. I was honored to be a CPO over dedicated men and women and I treated them as such. The results were apparent in a consistent high promotion rate for my people. Not to mention high respect back from them as well.
