I'm so glad you posted this SSgt Wes ODonnell. Lt Col (Join to see) and I are in the inquiry of this right now. The article states that the solution will require both the military (VA) as well as the average citizenry. And that's me. And many others. Lt Col (Join to see) and I recently formed #LeanInWomenVeterans with the hope that by providing a supportive community of growth and goal oriented women (#SistersAfterService) - who walk alongside each other - we can do something to stem this tide. I don't know if we'll have an impact. We want to. We hope to. And we at the very least are going to try.

We'd love your thoughts.

Cordila, I love your website and I love your program. My mission is to empower all veterans to rise up and realize the advantages of military training when competing in the civilian world.

The stomach to take risks, the ability to deal with ambiguity and the eternal optimism are all hallmarks of a post 9/11 veteran, both male and female.

I want to see more veterans in business and politics ASAP.

Check out my site http://www.wesodonnell.com and let me know how I can help. I'm at your disposal.

SSgt Wes ODonnell - Do not forget the pre 9/11 veterans. Just because we are a different generation does not make us any different in our hopes, dreams, concerns, or abilities.

I would also like to thank you for what you do for your community and your fellow veterans.

I think a fair conversation to have is why is it when a soldier/veterans commits suicide everyone automatically jumps to PTSD as the cause. http://popularmilitary.com/study-finds-non-combat-vets-more-likely-to-commit-suicide/

Its always such and such soldier was deployed to such and such place, they probably were suffering from PTSD.

This article did a good job of stating they don't know why the rate is higher for women, but almost every article I read about a veteran taking their life PTSD is always mentioned.
