At least Bernie is about as Outside as an Insider could be. Bernie was good for this race. It had to have been funny to watch HRC scream at everyone when he didn't just go away as he was told to do. He wasn't in it for himself.

Zakaria is really smart, but maybe he’s a little young. He was growing up in India when the oil Sheikh of Saudi Arabia decided to punish America for supporting Israel in the 73 war by quadrupling the price of oil overnight. It was also the era of conglomerates and mergers, a boom in stock ownership, and soaring interest rates. No longer were companies expected to manufacture stuff—they were now solely expected to generate dividends and rising stock prices. CEOs and directors moved jobs overseas to maximize profits. THAT was the beginning of the end for American jobs.
He’s wrong on two facts. Trump is not a populist, he’s a nativist. And Sanders is not embracing the policies of failed socialist states, he’s proposing adding the best ideas of successful Scandinavian countries to correct for the excesses of inadequately regulated greed.
However, the premise of Zakaria’s opinion has support from Trump’s organization itself! As Trump advisor Paul Mannafort said in an interview: “He needs an experienced person to do the part of the job he doesn’t want to do. He sees himself more as the chairman of the board, than even the CEO, let alone the COO.”
In other words, Trump wants a VP who will do the president’s work for him.
