Convention is being held during the same time the RNC, so there's no real point of him going. The candidate of compassion has better things to do instead of trying to appeal to a demographic of voters who draws a deaf ear to everything he is saying.

Candidate of compassion? Mexicans crossing the border are rapists and criminals. Judge Curiel is biased because of his Mexican heritage. Ban on Muslims entering the country. Deportation force to round up the 11 million people illegally here (most of whom have US citizen spouses and/or children).
Then there was mocking a disabled reporter on stage by scrunching his face and holding his arm up like a shaking claw. Attacking Megan Kelly saying Blood was coming from her eyes, from her wherever. Or how about his schoolyard name-calling (Lyin' Ted, Little Marco, Crooked Hillary) and his conspiracy theory bullshit (Ted Cruz' father involved with JFK assassination, the whole birther thing).

For the same reason I wouldn't go to many inner cities, he isn't a masochist. The NAACP is not friendly to Republicans of any color. For the abuse he would get, knowing they vote about 90+% for the Democrats, even though they always lose ground in our economic structure, provides little ROI. What could he say that would persuade you black Americans to vote for him?
