This is a 2022 video of Kamala "explaining" equity. Now, she and I both went to law school. I'm sure they were very different law schools because I would have a lot easier time explaining equity. There are two principal forms of equitable relief, mandamus (a court order to do something) or injunction (a court order to not do something). Let's say I punch you in the mouth. What are your options? Well, you can have me arrested and tried for assault (criminal law). And, you can sue me for damages (civil law or tort). Let's say I pay a fine in criminal court and pay the damages, but punching you in the mouth was so satisfying that I feel it is money well spent and do it again. Yes, we could go through the same legal actions but that isn't really what you want. You may then file for injunctive relief and have the court order me to stop punching you in the mouth. If I violate that order, the judge can jail me to save you from another punch in the mouth. That's equity. It's not so hard, is it? Do you think Kamala understands this or is she merely redefining "equity," using it to give authority to her narrative about equality of outcome? I'm not so sure. Having witnessed her performance as California's Attorney General, I suspect it's the latter.
