My thoughts?

Let the person who has never done stupid things in their life criticize.

Just like HRC. She should not be criticized and neither should DT.

One may criticize the action, but, usually not the person.

Definitely not cool. And my statement here in no way is intended to justify it. But, she was a kid. Kids do stupid things. Probably instilled by her parents. At that age, most are too young to start separating themselves from that parental influence. So if her apology is genuine, and she's honestly grown past the ignorance, then maybe write this off. I would say the same thing about a black kid's comments in this same situation.

I respect your opinion, but I never would have called someone a cracker even in my youth of stupidity.

SSG Trust Palmer - Then you were raised better than most, Staff. White or Black or any color. (Not sarcasm. Genuine intent.)

SN Greg Wright - I didn't think you were being sarcastic even if you were.. I'd find the positive in your intent. It is well.

SSG Trust Palmer this generation is far more outspoken and uncaring than previous generations. They speak without thought or understanding. Words are just that to them - words. They don't understand that their words have actual gravity. They feel that because they are not adults that they are protected somehow - mainly because of social media and its seeming disconnect from reality. Unfortunately for some, reality crashes through a bit earlier than it does for most and they see just how quick people can turn, the law can come down, others can judge, and how unfair the world really is.. You can be the worst person in the world and get away with saying just about anything, just being written off as some "worthless" unimportant person - yet the moment someone gets a spoonful of fame, the world judges them harshly and looks at everything about them under a microscope.. as if we are so much better and that because they are "famous" they are not allowed mistakes, past, present or future. It seems like the moment you gain any form of importance, the general population feels the overwhelming need to show you and everyone else just how "normal" you are, except by normal they mean "ugly".. and until you are hated, humiliated, and crushed into the ground, they must keep reminded you... It's a sad world we live in..

I find the use of any racial slur, against any race, abhorrent. That being said, how is a person supposed to grow? The problem is social media. It lasts forever. I have seen people from all walks of life use racial slurs. I myself have been called honky, cracker, okey, white trash, trailer trash, white devil, and a few more I cannot recall. None of it on social media, so those people have a chance to grow add humans and then move past it. Kids (18 is still a kid) do not always use their heads and say things in spite, or don't realize the the larger ramifications of what they day. Some grow up in households that may have a patent that may have racial views. How is a person supposed to grow up without screwing up? The thing to look for, is have the grown since? The problem with social media is not only does it last forever, but social shaming does as well. The internet does not forget, and allows people to never forgive. How long should someone be punished for making a childish mistake?
