That's sad to hear, but she did give it a good shot. Maybe she will do better in a different field, like Armor.

What the story did not mention is that this is not the first time this has happened. There have been a few attempts by women to complete the course. Every one ended the same way. It is not an easy course for a reason.

I can assure you though, the standards will be lowered when the desired result is not achieved. The attrition rates (in the story) is about 30% and these are not people that walked in off the street. These are already Marine Corps Officers.

Cpl Jeff N., If the standards are dropped, it's not doing the women or the Corps any favors. I can't see the Marine Corps lowering standards. But, you know more than the mod about the Marines.

SGT (Join to see) The Marine Corps will not lower the standards, The executive branch might force them to do so but they will not willingly do so. When the desired result is not obtained the push will come from the Sec Def and the White House. You would have to be naïve to think otherwise.
