8 Dumb Things We’ve All Done To Save Money

I'm 0 for 8, but did other dumb stuff. Shop on day before pay day and write a check because back then the check wouldn't clear the bank until pay was posted the next day. I wasn't alone on this one. Afternoon on the 14th and day-before end of month at Commissary was always busy. Ate TV dinners and breakfast cereal for lots of meals while TDY to turn per diem into profit.

My dumbest mistake was buying a car from one of those buy here, pay here, we finance everybody places. I thought it was a good idea to help build my credit. It was a wonderful idea, like using a stick of dynamite for a torch...

Kept a cooler of beer in the trunk. Stuffed my pants before going into the bar. Only once did anyone question as the bottle was a twist off Bud. The bar didn't have twist offs.

Took excess ketchup packets from restaurants to fill my bottle at home and had a drawer for other condiment packages.

I sold plasma once for beer money. Went to the mall to eat at Frank N Stein to have a dog and a beer. Felt like crap and ended up tossing the beer and going home. Didn't drink for two days.
