I could care less what label gets thrown at me. All this obsession with what something stands for, or someone must be wrong because I am right, if you disagree with me you are racist, etc etc etc......
We have become a nation of puppets that are pressured to fall into this category or that one. Then we get to throw insults back and forth.Nothing but division and intolerance instead of agreeing to disagree and respecting the differences of opinions. Nowadays, if you even challenge someone's point of view you can expect to be assaulted, dragged through the mud, and chastized relentlessly on social media. I identify as a veteran, a displaced Flyers fan, or one of God's children.

I love claims that the Democrats are the new Republicans and visa versa. Prove it. When did this happen? Last week? The "Party of Lincoln" fought to end slavery. The Democrats fought to prolong it. The Republicans keep the Army in the South to insure that freed slaves could live in freedom. The Democrats crafted a "compromise" for the Army to leave so they could enact and enforce Jim Crowe laws. The Republicans backed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Democrats used it to chain blacks to a new form of slavery - welfare. (All of this is documented) To this day, with the full backing of the black community, the Democrats take their votes and give nothing in return. Meanwhile, Trump is reviled by Democrats for reaching out and asking "What the hell do you have to lose?" Yes, "It is amazing how many people either don't know or gloss over these important facts when attempting to make quotes or throw out slogans. "

Capt Michael Greene, "On the other hand, the FBI has identified who are the greatest threat to America"

You mean THIS FBI?

"The Federal Bureau of Investigation earlier this year launched a nationwide operation targeting white supremacists and ‘militia/sovereign-citizen extremist groups,’ including a focus on veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, according to memos sent from bureau headquarters to field offices."

Capt Seid Waddell You do know why the KKK "endorsed" Clinton right? Not because they agree with her or any of her political viewpoints, but to counter David Duke's endorsement of Donald Trump. You see, according to the KKK, they don't want to be seen supporting Duke in any way, shape, form, or fashion so when Duke endorsed Trump, the KKK "endorsed" Hillary.
Try your best to read past the news blurb, Folks

SSG Michael Hartsfield - Capt Seid Waddell The whole "KKK endorses Clinton" thing was a one-time hoax by one Mr. Quigg, who said he raised money for Clinton but never provided any evidence of that. When asked why he changed from Trump, he said, "I didn't like his hair." Go see the actual white supremacist websites to see that they are loving Trump. He's doing exactly what they want.

You do know that David Duke founded the Louisiana-based Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, don't you?

Once folks get to the radical extremes on either side they are more alike than different in their irrationality.

If you just read the title, thought it was factually correct (everything on Wikipedia is correct), and believe in conspiracies, than this could be believable.

What they want you to believe is that the names changed, not the platform issues.

Let me correct the record -
1. The Republican Party was in favor of African-American rights, Democrates protested it.
2. The platform ideologies on governmental regulation switched.
3. The same people whom voted to free the slaves also realized that governmental regulation was impeding the American Dream.

So, the Republican Party is the party of Lincoln, for he, along with support of the Republicans freed the slaves.

The hidden issue within this article is how can minorities still support the party that didn't want them to be freed and prosper. Guess what, look at Baltimore, New York City, etc and you will see poverty, crime, and hard lives; most of these places have been under Democratic Leadership for Decades..

I have used Wiki as a reference but if you go thru the comment threads I have posted some other links as well. I have also performed some research and Wiki is pretty accurate on this, thus why I still use it as a reference.

The names have not changed, but the party platforms and people who pushed them has. With that said, I posted another link concerning the two party system in which I believe we may be headed towards another shift in our political parties- mainly the Republican one at the moment.

SGT (Join to see) - That could very well happen. I'm not sure of a swing to far past center-left, but the maneuver room is pinned to the fact Sanders forced HRC and the party way left, almost scary left.

1SG Patrick Burke Your history lesson was correct--50 years ago. Since, then, Republican voters, primarily in the South, have eliminated all moderates from the GOP leadership, and the party is now run by extreme right wingers wanting nothing to do with minorities. Today's GOP would not have freed the slaves. They would claim the Religious Freedom to keep the Tribe of Judah enslaved just like the Confederate leaders said.
