Wow!!! What a beauty [~532737-sgt-james-murphy]!!!! This was the cats meow back in the day... I had a 1955 Ford 2-door, but it didn't look half as nice as this one!!! Moved on to a 1955 Chevy Convertible and liked that as well!!!

Detroit is miss the big bet! They should just re-tool and go back to the classics in One Plant alone!

To me the '55 & '56 Fairlane 2dr HT was the most beautiful of all the low priced offerings in those years. I owned a '55 2dr Mainline sedan with the impotent 272 2bbl and a 3 speed stick.
It could barely get out of its own way but sported dual glass packs and sounded like it had a grenade for an engine.
I was proud of it even though the interior was rough and the rocker panels were gone.
Wouldn't give it a second look today but when you're a kid with a mere $100 in your pocket you take what you can get and like it.
I like the '55 Pontiac headlight eyebrow treatment and smoothing out the hood and deck lid gave the car a wider look. The marker lights are tastefully Frenched into the fenders and quarter panels - lots of nice detail and high quality workmanship. Not at all fond of the wheels but they seem to be all the rage. Too old for them, I guess. This car is only 90 minutes from my house - tempting...
Thanks for posting this, Sgt. Murphy - Very enjoyable.
