20 Marvel Characters Who Turned Evil

The best heroes are the ones with a potential dark streak. Yes, it’s great to see the cigar-chomping Wolverine save the day again and again with a quick claw slash and obligatory “bub,” but it’s way more interesting to see what happens when Wolverine goes full feral mode. Trust us, the results are NSFW.

And that’s the thing about watching Marvel heroes turn evil, it’s that we’ve already spent so much time with them doing heroic deeds that it hurts to see them descend into pure villainy. We all wept when Bucky Barnes came back as a brainwashed one-armed assassin. We were afraid of the Dark Phoenix as she became more and more powerful and we all had to pick our jaws up off the floor when Captain America uttered “Hail HYDRA” and revealed himself to be a secret, deeply-rooted double agent. They were all truly shocking moments that hurt more because we had come to know these characters as heroes.

Today’s list is all about Marvel heroes who flipped over to the dark side and the consequences that came along with it. Some of them did more damage than others, but all of it was hard to read and see.
