Fake news is much, much, much older than social media, but because of social media, their ideas are hitting more and more people faster than ever. It used to be that you really only saw it as you waited in line at the store to buy your milk and eggs, now it is every where. Fake news doesn't only hit the blue or red side; it hits both sides. And what is really sad is that people then take that on as their point of view without doing any further research. The idea of "well I saw it on the internet so it has to be true" or "making it Facebook official" is what has driven this country to what could be the edge of another Civil War type mentality; where people are looking to leave and start their own government to "get it right". But these blogs do not worry about the impact of what they say, they are only concerned about number of hits, shares and likes on their site. Until people stop being lazy and look at everything with the understanding that there are 3 sides of a topic; their side, the other side and the truth; then this stuff will continue to eat away at the fabric of this country.

I'm more worried over Facebooks agenda. They have control of these sites, they can easily erase only the fake news that hurts Their own agenda. That is why it is up to each of us to research and fact check any information we see, even from mainstream media.
