I loved looking at these pictures. They show a relaxed side of our Navy and Marines having fun. I hope you Navy and Marine folks enjoy, or maybe can even relate, to these pictures.
While there may not be a lot of downtime at sea, sailors and Marines make the most of their time off with "swim calls." During these events, they are given permission to swim near the US vessel while onlookers keep an eye out for sharks. We've collected 21 photos showing that the US Navy and US Marine Corps have the best diving boards and swimming pools.

22 years in the Navy, 11 of them spent on ships on both coasts, six deployments; one North Atlantic, one Med, one "Northern Wedding" (NA/Med combined), three WESTPACS and NOT one "Swim Call." Man I missed out...well maybe not in the North Atlantic!

Dang Chief, you could have taken a chance to get bit by a shark like the ones in these pictures. You had all the bad luck. LOL

I ate in an Air Force mess in Pleiku. It was delicious. It beat the hell out of c-rats.
We were supposed to be TDY on an Aircraft Carrier,in the South China Sea, and fly assaults off the ship. All I could think about was the food. But, alas, it got canceled. )-:
