NYT: Obama should pardon Bergdahl because “Trump!”

This isn't a surprise. I've expected it since he was allowed to stay in the Army and was called a hero. This was discussed tonight on the Fox News Network. The consensus was that Obama will pardon him because he has mental issues and should have never been in the Army.
August last year, Donald Trump, while on the campaign trail, told the audience that Bowe Bergdahl, the private that walked off his post in Afghanistan into the waiting arms of the Haqqani network of terrorists, should be executed.
According to the New York Times editorial board, Bergdahl’s lawyer will claim that Trump’s remarks are undue command influence on the jury when the new president takes office.
And, so, in order to preclude a drawn out trial, Obama should take action now;

I support President Obama and think he was an awesome President. I've even wrestled in my mind why he did what he did in making the deal to get Bergdahl back. However, if he pardons Bergdahl, it'll be probably the most inexcusable act a President has ever done.

Carter's Blanket Pardon was a slap in the face to all vets, But as Individuals Not a Single Draft Dodger was guilty (allegedly) of abusing power Like Nixon did. He was a shady character, much like a certain candidate for the latest election who manipulated her party to get the nomination.

I give very slim odds to the notion that President Obama would pardon Bergdahl.
I think the Obama haters need to get their story straight, is he obsesses with his "legacy" or isn't he? Because pardoning this deserter would be the action that defined his entire presidency and everyone knows it.
