Hi folks. I don't intend or expect to sway anyone but I'll add a couple cents here. I am an openly serving trans person. That most people know. What many don't know is that I have been aware of my gender identity since I was 8 years old. I grew up with both of my parents. I grew up in a Christian family. I was closeted through my entire youth but the feelings never changed. Research is showing more and more that trans people often habe inclinations of who they are at an incredibly young age. Science is finding that gender identity is likely formed in the womb, between weeks 15-20 of pregnancy. What happens to people like myself is unclear. What we do know is that it's not something you can counsel, pray or zap out of a person. Prior to coming out and transitioning I had worked through counseling, both secular and within the church.
I know this young ladies family. They are incredibly supportive of their daughter, but it's her who is the outspoken activist. She cares for kids like herself who can't be themselves. She hurts at the hate our community faces and hopes that her visibility can change it. Of course she says it in a 9 year old way. It's the heart she has.

Bad taste in my mouth, using a kid like this, Keith. They couldn't have found an adult trans person? This smacks of manipulation and is just not fair to the kid.

This isn't fair to the child. Her parents seem to have been understanding as she has reached age nine, but putting her out there for all types of people to see her, isn't being responsible parents.

Nowadays, everyone can do whatever the freak they way.
I don't give a fawk about her or being transgender - why is it on the cover of NG? This isn't inspirational or constructive in any way, just a publicity stunt in lieu with the further deterioration with our society - bringing about and giving attention to stupid shit. I will always echo - there are more prevalent and important issues going on, than STILL talking about one's sexual orientation.... or changing it's "gender" - are we serious, this is what's relevant?!?

Does this kid even know what's going on?

SGT (Join to see) - It seems to me she is getting along with it, in a positive matter. Either way, stupid issue - reading some of the rest of the comments makes me sick, in lieu of how glorious this is.
I don't understand the last question?

Sgt Ivan Radusinovic - Even though I don't completely agree with your opinion, I respect it because everyone in RP has a right to do so.

SGT (Join to see) - Good to go - but I was legitimately asking about the comment if I would "rather live in a country that kills LGBT or throws them in prison for life?" - I don't understand what it has to do with the topic? Did I come off as anything correlating to that?

Sgt Ivan Radusinovic - No not at all. That was a stupid question I asked. I don't know what got into me. It's not the first time I've opened my mouth and inserted my foot. I apologize. I disrespected your service to our country and yourself as a Marine. I wouldn't have handled my insult as well as you did. I do apologize Ivan. Won't happen again.
