I despise the ACA but what I despise even more is the control the for profit insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies have on US health care. Anyone that thinks the Republicans will do any better are fools, there is too much money involved with people getting sick and profit to be made. There is a serious problem when anyone at an insurance company or pharmaceutical company makes ten times what a doctor that provides direct care makes but that is what we have gotten ourselves into. We need to find a way to take all that excessive profit these companies make and apply it to making health care more affordable. I am not against people making money, I am against money being made like the epi pen or insulin increase. Insulin comes from hogs, there is no shortage in hogs, and insulin is not a new drug. So why the increase? Uncontrolled greed and find me a politician that is truly for stopping that and we will have a solution.

The EPI Pen fiasco had more to do with the Pen as a injector than the medicine in it but most Americans perceived it the other way around.

Legacies really don't matter, do they? The buck stops in DC regardless of who's sitting in the catbird seat. You can't just sit back and watch the consequences of the previous Administration roll in while you sit back and say "Hey, it's not my fault". We elected you to fix it, now fix it.

The biggest clue is in the headline. Everyone talks about it. Replace Obamacare or Repeal Obamacare seems to be the goal, an end in itself. THAT is the problem. I might suggest a different line of thought. How about: Improving the health of the nation. How about Making Healthcare Affordable for Everybody.

The reason I include "everybody" is because health, or rather, disease, affects EVERYBODY. Not just the contagious diseases, but the lost productivity, the number of people disabled and draining instead of contributing to our society because they couldn't afford to be healthy, and now they are DISABLED.

The USA has NEVER had a healthcare "system." Our hodgepodge of many parts of systems started over a hundred years ago with a few hospitals, developed into a group of insurance companies, and during WWII, became a "perk" of employment as a way to attract more and better employees back in the days when factories needed skill people. This progression is unique. In many other advanced countries, primarily in Europe, the leadership realized that they needed healthy people to keep a nation strong, competitive and secure. So they invented HEALTH systems designed to keep people healthy. Meanwhile in the USA, for-profit healthcare sprang up--even a "nonprofit" hospital must keep their bottom line in the black. The emphasis here is on PROFIT. That is why Americans--compared to many nations--have shorter lifetimes, our newly born babies die more quickly, our people don't see a doctor very often, and our older people live through their retirement years with disabilities instead of enjoying the retirement they broke their bodies to earn.

And to top it off, Americans have spent over the decades more than any other country in the world on healthcare. In all ways. Our poor health outcomes cost us a bigger slice of GDP, a bigger slice of government revenues, a bigger chunk of each family's cash, than in any other country on the planet. "The best healthcare in the world" is a patriotic myth, just like George Washington's cherry tree.

So show me a plan, GOP. Show me a GOAL! If "repeal" or "replace" Obamacare is your goal, then you need to leave office and turn it over to someone who CARES about America, our prosperity, our productivity, and our security.
