Obama scrupulously declined to do much fundraising while he was still in office.

The Obama Center is due to be so expensive because it will require the construction of both a presidential library and a museum about the lives of Barack and Michelle Obama. And federal requirements now stipulate that former presidents must have larger endowments to pay for annual operating costs at the libraries.

SFC George Smith I think after the first year of this Presidency, any true fiscal conservative will be fondly reminiscing about the Obama-days of vacation spending.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - Fair enough..
But I was asking relative to the endowment and your statement "1stSgt Nelson Kerr 2 h
The Republican changed the law requiring a larger endowment."
Do you know why the law was changed.. Not who wrote the bill, voted for it, or signed it into law, but WHY???

BTW, I agree, the hoopla about this former presidents Library is nuts .. Meet the criteria laid out in the law and its a big so what. Yes based on the plans for a HUGE building , the endowment will be huge as well.

SGM Erik Marquez - II said Rep inulin instead of Republican Congress. Mea culpa. I do not that you will find a real reason for the change in law that can not be solved with the "Paper bag test"

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - From your response, having said nothing that supports your position, I can only conclude you have not educated yourself on The Presidential Libraries Act (P.L. 84-373; 69 Stat. 695), nor done any research at all into why the endowment stipulation was amended in 2003 and 2008.
I wounder, why to you argue a position you have not supported in any way.. and seem to be seriously lacking any enlightening information on.

Im open to EDUCATED differing opinions based on facts.
Its a very one sided discussion when the one making accusations is unwilling or unable to support their position. Id bet your better than that, so I challenge you.. support your position.
So based tangible, creditable facts, and research into The Presidential Libraries Act (P.L. 84-373; 69 Stat. 695) and its amendments was the larger endowment set into law 2003 & 2008 unneeded?, or other wise just the partisan act of "the republican" in your words?

I say if no one wants to see a particular presidential library and it can't stand on it's own merits then shut it down.
