You break into my house unannounced looking like a burglar then you are going to get shot. I am assuming you are a bad guy after my wife, my daughter and me and I will defend my home and ask questions later. If you are coming on a warrant arrest you need to have your identifying vests or something else showing who you are and announce your presence very loudly.

This is a bad situation, and despite the inherent risks of announcing they are there and coming in. I believe that the police should always announce themselves before entering, if for no other reason than to give the "bad guy" a chance to surrender peacefully.

I agree MSG Million and have read a few news articles about veterans being wrongfully shot due the police getting the wrong house and the veteran defending his home to what he thought was an invader. I've often thought about this with my current Home defense plan and the what if scenarios.

Agreed. Not announcing seems like another case of police putting procedures in in place to gain maximum safety for themselves at the expense of safety of the public.

No knock is a relic of the war on drugs a war with no victories an countless casualties. One person dying because of it is far worse than the benefits it provides.
