PO1 Tony Holland - I am surprised given the many thousands of male service members reportedly involved in viewing these websites that not one male service member appears to have come forward to Chain of Command, Intelligence, or Criminal Investigators with a report breaking this conspiracy wide open a very long time ago. Surely, someone with honor and integrity, or someone with a mother, sister, daughter, or wife would have reported these websites. Perhaps we will learn male service members reported these websites - and technical difficulties inhibited seizure and investigation. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

I tend to agree with you in some respects 1LT Sandy Annala, however given our shifting trends in society and the fact that so many of these sites are "SECRET" and you have to be invited into them, I am not that surprised they have remained unreported. Tailhook is mentioned in the article cited and that was a conspiracy AT the highest levels of the NAVY and not just low level pilots. The boys will be boys mentality was not dead then and, it appears is not dead even now.

I hope that before commenting, people really read the article. It contains very specific steps the CNO says must be done to combat our new cyber equivalent of Tailhook.

Tailhook is alive and well in our Navy once again. This time it is not just the Aviation Community, but all of us and make no mistake it is not limited to men either. I believe we are looking at the tip of the iceberg and this will only get worse before we find a cure. Now, I do not claim to be a pure and innocent man who has never looked at pictures of unclad women, but this is a long way from Playboy, Penthouse, and dare I say it, yes, even Hustler.

However, now we are talking about sites where some women did not give permission for their pictures to be posted. They sent them to their significant others and somehow the pictures wound up on a site where other people are viewing them. I am not going to get into WHY they were sent or why they were posted here, they were, okay? If the person IN the picture did not give permission it is wrong IMO, PERIOD.

In the article, the CNO says, "I’ve heard hundreds of times that 'these actions are being taken by only a small minority.'" Richardson wrote. "Prove that. If that’s true, then the vast majority of men and women need to stand up and smother this behavior. To become intolerant. To act to put a stop to this. And if you’re one of that minority that just won’t get it, then it’s time for you to leave the Navy."

"It is the responsibility of commanding officers, division officers and the chief’s mess to confront the issue with sailors head on," Richardson continued."

We in the leadership positions may NOT have known it was happening, just like everyone in the Navy was not aware of Tailhook, BUT we know now. Take the CNO's words to heart Sailors and lets stop this CRAP now.

I agree that it is up to the CPO Mess to stand up and take charge of this issue. We do not wait for the wardroom to issue directions when it comes to the welfare of OUR people! If you ARE a CHIEF take charge and make it your personal priority.
